Ondrej Venjarski was an artist whose art reflected a deep understanding of life in Kovačica. His art was recognisable by a subtle approach towards form and colour with special emphasis on everyday details. The leitmotif of his work was the church tower of Kovačica, a symbol of local tradition and community, an inevitable motive, were also snowy white oxen with large horns. They were the key to agricultural life. This display of cattle was repeated throughout his work, emphasising their meaning in people’s lives. His light, it did not just illuminate the scenes; it carried deep symbolism about the consistency of everyday life.
